What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a kid?

July 20, 1944

OTD Ludwig Beck, German general and Chief of the German General Staff during the early years of the AH regime in Germany before World War II. Beck became a major leader within the conspiracy against AH and would have served as head of state with the title of either President or regent ("Reichsverweser"), depending on the source, if the 20 July plot had succeeded. The plot failed, however, and Beck was then arrested. He reportedly made an unsuccessful attempt at suicide before he was shot dead. (Born: 1880), died on this day at the Benderblock, Berlin, Free State of Prussia, Germany, aged 64.

Life still going on..

I know young people are confused by the things that are happening now, fearful that it is a dangerous time.  They evince a lack of hope.  This is only because they do not know their history.  Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it.  A truth that only some acknowledge.  My advice?  Learn.

These sailing beauties are replicas of Dubrovnik carracks (in English: Argosi) from the 15th century and at that time they transported precious cargo...today they only transport tourists.... For me - it was love at first sight and it lasts with every new look whenever I see them anchored at the dock.....

A unique part of Croatia's cultural heritage and history is the romantic battle dance (a fight for a girl and/or a fight between good and evil) called Moreška, which has been performed on the island of Korčula for 350 years and nowhere else in the world, and the locals of Korčula are very proud and have been preserving this tradition for centuries. When I visited the island of Korčula a few days ago, the Moreška museum was an indispensable point in my sightseeing of historical sites. Btw, the island of Korčula is a wonderful place to live or vacation.

In 2010 my hometown pier was burnt down. It was caused by arson such a shame. It was built in 1875 and as a kid had so many good memories.

Little known fact back in the late 90s and early 2000s amusement parks thought about us parents and built these little cages or prison cells where you could lock your kids in and go on a grown up ride by yourselves maybe it was wrong maybe it lead to deep seeded emotional scars but no other prison served cotton candy and soda and ice cream and any other sugary over priced snack imaginable so tell it to your therapists I dont want to hear it I rode the short lived son of beast with the loop of death multiple times with my ex wife while our kids remained safely locked in a cell none of them have gone to adult prison or jail so maybe it wasnt as wrong as it sounds they were more like pens than cages or cells any way we were truly awful weren't we thats what grandkids are for to make right all the wrongs you did with their parents I think
