Learning German after Mandarin is so funny. I can't let go of my hard earned Chinese tones and just pronounced 'daant keL' instead of 'danke' 😭

I was thinking of learning a language on Duolingo, which language should I start and that you recommend?

My mother tongue is considered to be one of the most difficult to learn (green area)... especially our grammar, so we have low expectations of foreigners speaking it but would say we are quite impressed when someone learns to speak it fluently... because, well... why? 😆

it will make you hate everything so much more that you will eventually reach a breaking point where you’d rather a building collapse on you than sit through one more HSK exam. at that point, you will quit. and let me tell you, the sheer spite-fueled productivity that follows is unmatched. you will improve your life, do everything that actually benefits you other than Chinese and finally be happy, purely because it’s not Chinese. 10/10 would recommend for the character development...

Speaking level

To help people understand my love for languages, I’ll share how I’m learning over 13 different languages. Though people seem to interpret that as impressive, like fluency, when it’s nowhere close in my estimation. I love getting to an essential basis with languages, where I can get a feel for the flow, the accent, the unique quirks, and cross compare, and begin conversational proficiency. Fluency is certainly much, much more difficult.

Not quite a polyglot (edit: not at all)

For a few years i am learning the Russian language. However the Belarusian language also starts to get my attention (including the traditional kitchen🤩)
If anyone has tips in regards to learning the Belarusian language or must try recipes in the kitchen. Sent a message or drop a comment )))

I’ll start: English, Arabic and Russian

So I talked to guy on here from Brasil and when I heard him speak Portuguese suddenly felt motivated to learn the language cause it sounds lovely. Also been listening to alot of Brazilian Funk and started watching Hilda Furacao so... guess thats a new years resolution
