I was just thinking about language barriers and my inability to speak a language but actually to understand it and how funny/strange and even potentially cute it would be to carry on a conversation with a partner speaking another language who understood English when I spoke it. 😅❤️

My mother tongue is considered to be one of the most difficult to learn (green area)... especially our grammar, so we have low expectations of foreigners speaking it but would say we are quite impressed when someone learns to speak it fluently... because, well... why? 😆

Learning German after Mandarin is so funny. I can't let go of my hard earned Chinese tones and just pronounced 'daant keL' instead of 'danke' 😭

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. Today is the second time I described my day to my language partner without any script or translator. 

My vocabulary is limited, but I know enough to have a very simplistic conversation. Now it's just a matter of getting those words to come out. 

The screenshot is what my friend typed as I was talking. She did correct a bit of my grammar, added some transition words I didn't know yet, and she translated a couple of phrases, Like online meeting and coworker since those are beyond HSK1 👀😅

it will make you hate everything so much more that you will eventually reach a breaking point where you’d rather a building collapse on you than sit through one more HSK exam. at that point, you will quit. and let me tell you, the sheer spite-fueled productivity that follows is unmatched. you will improve your life, do everything that actually benefits you other than Chinese and finally be happy, purely because it’s not Chinese. 10/10 would recommend for the character development...

if you currently hate yourself and your life, I have a life hack for you: start learning Chinese.

So I talked to guy on here from Brasil and when I heard him speak Portuguese suddenly felt motivated to learn the language cause it sounds lovely. Also been listening to alot of Brazilian Funk and started watching Hilda Furacao so... guess thats a new years resolution

Why do they say "heavy on the pocket" to express something that "empties your pocket"?

To help people understand my love for languages, I’ll share how I’m learning over 13 different languages. Though people seem to interpret that as impressive, like fluency, when it’s nowhere close in my estimation. I love getting to an essential basis with languages, where I can get a feel for the flow, the accent, the unique quirks, and cross compare, and begin conversational proficiency. Fluency is certainly much, much more difficult.
