Recently converted an old favorite of mine to full on DCC+Sound and put together some vintage Tenshodo passenger cars to go with.. 

This engine started its life in 1982 as an old Mantua bluebox kit loco, but with some time and dedication even this old timer can have all the bells and whistles (literally) of the engines of today.

Mantua 2-6-6-2T Project

N scale, roughly 6 scale miles of main line.  I'm Modeling the BN through Montana in the early 1970's. One lap takes roughly 24 minutes.

Finally completed the 1/72-1/82 "Thor" mortar kit, though the camouflage isn't exactly perfect as it was my first attempt at it, I like the end result and is one of the under appreciated patterns that the Germans used. Now it's onto the next big thing!

Starting work on my N scale layout

Here's a pic of a 7/8n2 Porter locomotive I'm working on. H.K. Porter was a company that specialized in building small industrial locomotives in all kinds of gauges. (Track width) This one isn't based on any specific engine, but inspired by an engine built for the Arizona Copper Co. in the 1890s.

Well, at the Atlanta Model Train Show that was a few weeks back, I found a model of an N scale narrow gauge locomotive for $12. Which is a steal, especially if it runs! Sadly I have no way of testing it yet.

And then this past Saturday I went to an N scale club open house. Previously, I always viewed N scale as just too small for my liking, but now having been exposed to it, I'm starting to see the appeal. Although I doubt it will be my primary Scale, it would be fun to dabble with it, especially if I joint a club. And hopefully I can convince them the let me build a narrow gauge branch on the club layout.

I never thought I'd ever go smaller.

63rd Atlanta Model Train Show

"Thor" attached to its rail cranes, featuring a class 150.P for pushing. 

Started putting together an old Hasegawa 1/72 Mörser tank/rail gun kit a few days ago and finally got everything put together, I'm hoping to paint up a spotty camo scheme in the next few days to finish stuff off. 

Though 1/72 scale, I converted the wheels with a mix of 36" and 33" wheel sets to run on 1/87 HO scale track, and the end result isn't to much out of place. I ended up making the outer wheels "blind" with the smaller wheel sets to help with curves and derailment issues, but outside of that it's all original.
