Nice view tonight of mountains and fields of cut grass, clouds.

You can get stuck being single for years or even a decade when there are so few people around, fewer still willing to talk to "new" arrivals, and almost no unmarried people your age whatsoever.

I've been living near these mountains for 12 years of my life, and I greet everyone I see, yet some neighbours still stare back at me in silence when I say hello. 

I haven't met even one unmarried woman around my age living here in all those years, as far as I know. The countryside is basically dying, no jobs left except a little farm work. Yet the house prices are crazy high, because of AirBNB and property investors. It's basically just retired people, farming families, and a few families that wanted extra space and commute to work.

Almost everyone drives rather than walking, and almost no one stops the car to chat, even on a beautiful evening. There are no shops, no cafes. A few churches though.

I walk an hour every day, yet I see only one or two people outside in a typical month. There was a quiz night at one of the churches back in 2018, but only ten people came.

Last week, I got invited over to a neighbour's house for a cup of tea. It's the first time that's ever happened since I moved here in 2009. 

I need a new home. But I can't stand cities or towns.

If you live in a beautiful, *welcoming*, sociable and affordable mountain town or village in Europe, can you DM me and let me know about it? Because it's a difficult combination to find. Thanks in advance 🤞

I've already tried moving several times but covid, brexit, old parents becoming very sick, and crazy house prices all over Europe and the UK, messed everything up.
