Meet a 1700 year old sock found in Oxyrhynchus (Egypt.) currently in the Manchester museum I saw this today.

Very heavy 4.5 kilograms and strongly radioactive ☢️.   The pink you're seeing is cobalt the black is pitchblende.  The mine was first opened in the 1930s as a radium mine in the 1940s it became a uranium mine after that it re opened as a highly productive silver mine.  Now the US department of defense is re opening the mine for cobalt!

Bismuth crystals with Skudderrudite from Ontario Canada Cobalt area.  Bismuth is about as abundant as silver in the earths crust however pure native bismuth is very rare to see in visible crystals usually they are microscopic.  Bi, Element 83.  This is what a nice specimen of bismuth ore looks like.
