I love thesr five so much I named them, usually after famous fictional weapons, except for Dwynwen, my M160, which is named after a song by Endaf Emlyn.

The MD441, Excalibur, is a rebuilt/rehoused unit that I initially thought was counterfeit until I took it apart and saw its age and authenticity. The serial number places this mic's birthdate in 1968!

Mjollnir is my i5, a heavy hitter for aggressive guitar cabs.

Ulfbehrt is an e609, which I use instead of a 57 if I want to get a bit more treble out of the mix and reinforce the low end.

Asi is an SM57, what more is to be said about the most popular mic of all time?

Dwynwen is my M160, and probably my favorite mic ever. Distance is important with ribbon mics, and I normally keep it 30 CM from the cabinet speaker to open up the high end. That said, the proximity effect is so linear I can listen to a track and just know how far I have to move the mic. If I close mic it, I blend it with the 57 and the resultant sound is so full and rich. My favorite thing about it is how it subdues transients and really keeps the sound from being too shrill in the high end.
