Prior to his role as CEO, he held several significant executive positions at Penguin including Director, Chief Operating Officer and President prior to the merger that formed Penguin Random House. Apart from his achievements in the publishing industry, Robinson is actively involved in various charitable endeavors. In 2018, Richard together with his wife fell in love with a historic Grade I listed building in central London named Rainbow Corner 'building' which he purchased to provide a new home for the House of Illustration, a public arts charity in London dedicated to promoting and celebrating illustration in all its forms. In this way, Robinson's successful career is coupled with philanthropy, making him an inspiring figure. In 2020, Richard Robinson passed away unexpectedly at the age of 84. This news shook the publishing world and his legacy continues to be cherished by publishers, authors and readers around the world.
