As a result, Gélin was surrounded by the world of cinema and theatre from a young age and began his acting career at just sixteen years old. Over the course of his career, Gélin appeared in over fifty films and television shows, including "May Fools," "Cyrano de Bergerac," and "La Truite." He collaborated with some of the most talented filmmakers in France, such as Claude RIch, Bertrand Tavernier, and Eric Rohmer. Gélin was known for his versatility as an actor, and he played a wide range of characters, from comedy to drama. In addition to his acting work, Gélin was also a successful director and screenwriter. He wrote and directed several films, including "Toxic Affair" and "The Radioland Murders." Gélin's work behind the camera was acclaimed, and he won numerous awards for his directorial efforts at the Cannes Film Festival and the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Despite his success, Gélin remained humble and dedicated to his craft until his untimely death on August 4, 1999, at the age of fifty-three.
