Ron W. Miller was an American businessman and former professional American football player. Born on April 17, 1933 in Los Angeles, California, Miller played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) as a tight end. He went on to have a brief career in the National Football League (NFL) as a player for the Los Angeles Rams. However, Miller is perhaps best known for his relationship with the Walt Disney Company, where he served as the president and CEO for almost a decade. After his football career ended, Ron W. Miller transitioned into the entertainment industry, working at the Walt Disney Studio as an assistant film editor. He slowly climbed the corporate ladder, taking on various roles including producer and director. In 1967, Miller married Diane Disney, the only daughter of Walt Disney, and became a member of the Disney family by marriage. This connection led to his rise within the company. In 1978, Miller ascended to the role of president and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, taking over from his father-in-law, Roy O. Disney. During his tenure, he oversaw the successful growth and expansion of the company, and was instrumental in the development and opening of Disneyland Paris. Miller also played a key role in the creation of the Touchstone Pictures division, which produced several successful films. Despite his contributions to the company, Ron W. Miller's tenure as CEO was not without its challenges. Under his leadership, the company faced financial difficulties and declining profits. By 1984, investors and the board of directors sought a change in leadership, resulting in Miller's departure from the company.
