One of his most notable works, "Yam Daabo" (1986), won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, bringing international recognition to Ouédraogo's talent and solidifying his position as a prominent filmmaker. Throughout his life, Idrissa Ouédraogo became an ambassador for African cinema, representing not only his native Burkina Faso but the entire African continent as a storyteller.
