Born on 9th May 1917 in Bath, Somerset, Arnatt developed a passion for acting at a young age and embarked on a successful career in the theatre, before moving to television in the 1950s. He became one of the most prolific character actors of his time, known for his versatility and ability to portray a variety of roles with great ease.

Arnatt’s career spanned over five decades and he starred in some of the most memorable productions of his time. He appeared in television dramas such as ‘The Saint’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Z Cars’, among others. He was also a familiar face on the big screen, appearing in movies like ‘The Hill’ and ‘The Longest Day’, and he was widely praised for his performances in both. In addition to his work in film and television, Arnatt also enjoyed a successful career in the theatre, starring in productions of plays like ‘Hamlet’ and ‘Macbeth’.

Throughout his long and illustrious career, Arnatt received numerous accolades for his work. He won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1964 for his performance in ‘The Hill’, and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 1993.
