John Nettleton Bio
John Nettleton was a well-known British actor, who performed across stage, screen, and television for several decades. Born in London in 1929, Nettleton developed a keen interest in acting while studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He made his first appearance on stage in 1949, and quickly became a sought-after actor. In 1952, he made his debut on television, and subsequently appeared in several high-profile television dramas, including A Man of Our Times and The Forsyte Saga.
Throughout his career, Nettleton also acted in several films, including The Blue Max and The Ruling Class. However, he was perhaps best known for his performances on stage. He was a regular performer at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and won critical acclaim for his portrayal of a wide range of characters. Nettleton also continued to act in television until the end of his career, appearing in several popular dramas, including The Avengers and Bergerac.
Nettleton was married to actress Joyce Heron, and the couple had two children. In addition to his acting career, he was also a regular contributor to the British political magazine New Statesman. In 1970, he published a book about his experiences performing in John Osborne's controversial play, A Patriot for Me. Nettleton passed away in January 2018, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy as one of Britain's most versatile and accomplished actors.
