Joe Judge

Joe Judge Bio

Joe Judge is an American football coach who is currently the head coach of the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on December 31, 1981, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Judge grew up playing football and baseball at Lansdale Catholic High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He later pursued a degree in business administration at Mississippi State University before beginning his coaching career. After graduation, Judge worked for three years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Mississippi State. In 2005, he joined the coaching staff at Birmingham-Southern College as a special teams and linebackers coach. From there, Judge went on to have coaching positions with several other colleges, including the University of Alabama, the University of Birmingham, and the University of Maryland. Judge's NFL career began in 2012 when he joined the New England Patriots as a special teams assistant. He worked his way up the coaching ranks over the next eight years, eventually becoming the team's special teams coordinator in 2015. During his tenure with the Patriots, Judge was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams and helped develop some of the league's top special teams units. In early 2020, Judge was hired as the head coach of the New York Giants, replacing Pat Shurmur. The hiring came as a bit of a surprise, as Judge had never been a head coach at any level prior to joining the Giants. However, the team was impressed with his coaching experience and leadership skills, and believed he could help turn around a struggling franchise. Judge's first season as head coach was challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic and injuries to key players, but he worked to instill a culture of discipline and accountability within the team.
