Instead, the film primarily follows an unnamed protagonist, played by Daniel Craig, who navigates the treacherous waters of the London drug trade. This film serves as a gritty portrayal of crime and the underbelly of society, focusing on the complex relationships and challenges that arise in this world.

"Layer Cake," directed by Matthew Vaughn, presents a narrative that is tightly woven together, showcasing how ambition and loyalty can lead to both success and downfall. It incorporates rich characterizations and intricate storytelling, which are hallmark traits of crime dramas. The protagonist, known only as "XXXX," serves as a standout character whose desire for a quiet exit from the drug business ultimately leads him into deeper complications.

While "Nobby" might not play a central role, the film features a diverse cast of characters, including various criminals, dealers, and law enforcement figures, each contributing to the intense atmosphere and multi-layered plot. As the story unfolds, viewers are introduced to a number of figures within this criminal framework, illustrating the pervasive influence of organized crime in London.

In summary, the character referred to as Nobby seems to be absent from the primary narrative of "Layer Cake."
