Brian Howe was an English rock singer-songwriter from Portsmouth, England. He was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock band Bad Company, during which time he recorded four albums for the group. Prior to that, he was a member of the British rock band White Spirit, which released one album in 1980. Born on July 22, 1953, Howe began his music career in the late 1970s as a drummer for the band Shy. After leaving Shy, he joined the band White Spirit as lead vocalist. During his time with White Spirit, the band opened for such acts as Iron Maiden and UFO, but disbanded after failing to achieve mainstream success. In 1986, Howe was approached by Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs to join the band as the new lead vocalist. Howe accepted the offer and helped the band achieve renewed success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, recording such hits as "Holy Water," "If You Needed Somebody," and "How About That." After leaving Bad Company in 1994, Howe focused on his solo career, releasing several albums before retiring from music in the mid-2000s.
