Peter Haddon Bio

Peter Haddon was a British actor best known for his work in the 1930s, particularly in films like "Jamaica Inn" and "The 39 Steps". Born in 1898 in Leeds, Haddon began his career as a stage actor before transitioning to film in the early 1930s. Over the course of his career, he appeared in over 30 films and is remembered as one of the distinguished performers of his time.

Haddon's most iconic role is perhaps that of Mr. Memory in Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps". In the film, Haddon plays a man with a photographic memory who is pursued by spies and ultimately murdered for his knowledge. The role earned him critical acclaim and cemented his place in film history. In "Jamaica Inn", he played Jem Trehearne, opposite Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara.

Despite his talent and success, Haddon's career was cut short due to his sudden death in 1945 at the age of 46. He had been working on the film "Dead of Night" at the time of his passing. His legacy lives on in the cinematic works of his time and in the hearts of his fans. He is remembered for his ability to bring charm, wit, and intelligence to every role he played, and for his contribution to the Golden Age of Hollywood.
