Donald Roy Beatty, born circa 1930, was a Canadian football player who played as an end for the Hamilton Wildcats, Calgary Stampeders, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 195 pounds, Beatty was known for his athleticism and versatility on the field.
Beatty's football career began with the Hamilton Wildcats in 1948, where he played three games. He later attended the University of Western Ontario, further developing his skills before returning to professional football. In 1952, he joined the Calgary Stampeders, appearing in 15 games and recording one reception for 11 yards. Additionally, he contributed as a punter, with five punts totaling 170 yards.
In 1953, Beatty became a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, playing 14 games that season. His tenure with the Tiger-Cats was highlighted by the team's victory in the Grey Cup, marking a significant achievement in his career. Throughout his time in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Beatty was recognized for his dedication and contributions to his teams.
After retiring from professional football, Beatty's legacy continued to be remembered by the Canadian football community. He passed away on October 16, 2010, in Sundridge, Ontario. His career remains a testament to the rich history of Canadian football and the athletes who have contributed to the sport's development in the country.
