Fred Morrison
Fred Morrison Bio
Fred Morrison is a renowned figure in the United States, though hailing from an unconventional field of expertise; he is widely recognized as the father of the modern frisbee. Born on January 23, 1920, in Richfield, Utah, Morrison's passion for flying objects started at a young age. However, it wasn't until 1948, while serving in the United States Air Force, that he invented the first plastic flying disc, known as the "Pluto Platter." This creation would forever change the world of recreational activity, eventually leading to the development of the iconic frisbee we know today.
After leaving the Air Force, Morrison pursued a career as an inventor and entrepreneur. In 1955, he introduced the first commercially produced plastic flying disc, named "Frisbee" after the Frisbie Pie Company in Connecticut. This innovative toy quickly gained popularity, attracting enthusiasts and becoming a staple among outdoor activities, beachgoers, and college campuses nationwide.
Morrison's devotion to the frisbee extended beyond merely inventing it. In 1957, he organized the first professional frisbee competition, the Frisbee World Championship, held in Bladworth, Saskatchewan, Canada. This event marked a major turning point for the frisbee's popularity, bringing together athletes from around the world and solidifying Morrison's place as a key influencer in the frisbee community.
Throughout his life, Fred Morrison remained committed to advancing the possibilities of the frisbee. He continued inventing and improving various designs, collaborating with other enthusiasts to further develop the sport of disc golf, and even participating in exhibitions and competitions himself. His immense contributions to the world of recreational activity have forever changed the way people engage in outdoor play and will continue to be celebrated as his remarkable legacy lives on.
Which Enneagram Type is Fred Morrison?
Fred Morrison is an Enneagram three personality type with a Four wing or 3w4. They are more likely to stay authentic than Type 2s. They may become confused because their dominant type can change depending on who they are with. Meanwhile, their wing values have always been about being seen as unique and creating a scene for themselves rather than staying true to themselves. This tendency may lead them to assume different roles even if it doesn't feel right or fun at all.
