Roy Helu Jr. is a former American football player who played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on December 7, 1988, in Danville, California, USA. Helu's football journey began in high school at San Ramon Valley High School, where he showcased his exceptional skills and athleticism. As a standout player, he earned multiple accolades, including being named an All-East Bay Athletic League First Team selection.

After his successful high school career, Roy Helu attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to further pursue his football career. He continued to impress on the field, tallying several records and earning numerous honors. During his time as a Cornhusker, he became Nebraska's all-time leader in career all-purpose yards, as well as rushing yards in a game and in a single season. In 2010, the versatile running back was named All-Big 12 Conference First Team and became a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's top collegiate running back.

In the 2011 NFL Draft, Helu was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round. He quickly showcased his skills at the professional level, particularly as a pass-catching running back. He had an impressive rookie season, setting a single-game record for most receptions by a running back in Washington Redskins history. Throughout his career, he demonstrated his ability to contribute both on the ground and through the air, being an asset as a versatile offensive weapon.
