Born on April 10, 1976, in Southwark, London, Sesay began his football journey as a youth player at Chelsea FC. He joined the club's youth academy, showcasing his talents and promising potential, which eventually led to him signing a professional contract with the team in 1994.
Sesay spent a significant part of his early career on loan to various clubs, gaining experience and honing his skills. During the 1996-1997 season, he had a short spell with Swansea City before returning to Chelsea. However, it wasn't until the 1997-1998 season that Sesay made his Premier League debut, featuring in two matches for the club.
