He initially gained popularity as one-third of the hip-hop group 3rd Bass, alongside MC Serch and DJ Richie Rich. The group achieved success with their debut album "The Cactus Album" in 1989, which featured hit singles like "Steppin' to the A.M." and "The Gas Face."

Born on July 6, 1967, in The Bronx, New York City, Pete Nice was immersed in the vibrant hip-hop culture of the area from an early age. Growing up, he honed his skills as a lyricist and developed a unique flow that would later contribute to his success as an artist. Together with MC Serch and DJ Richie Rich, they formed 3rd Bass in 1987, and the group quickly gained attention for their witty rhymes and politically charged lyrics.

Following the success of their debut album, Pete Nice remained an integral part of 3rd Bass as they released their second and final studio album, "Derelicts of Dialect," in 1991. The album further solidified their reputation as one of the most influential groups in hip-hop, featuring tracks like "Pop Goes the Weasel" and "Ace in the Hole." However, tensions within the group led to their eventual breakup in 1992.

After 3rd Bass disbanded, Pete Nice pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album "Dust to Dust" in 1993. The album showcased his versatility as an artist, blending elements of jazz, funk, and rock into his rap music. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, Pete Nice's solo career did not reach the same level of commercial success as his work with 3rd Bass. Nevertheless, he remains a respected figure in the hip-hop community, known for his impactful contributions to the genre and the memorable music he created with 3rd Bass.
