Ed Farmer was an American radio broadcaster and former professional baseball player who achieved fame both on and off the field. Born on October 18, 1949, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Farmer's love for baseball emerged at an early age. He embarked on a successful career as a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB), playing for several teams including the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers. His talent on the mound quickly garnered attention, and he made his MLB debut with the Indians in 1971. Farmer's deep baritone voice became instantly recognizable to millions of listeners, establishing him as one of Chicago's most beloved broadcasters.

Outside of broadcasting, Farmer was also known for his philanthropy and dedication to charitable causes.
