The sky above Berlin

It is a 1987 film and lasts more than two hours, made by W. Wenders with the collaboration of Peter Handke on the screenplay, that is, two exponents of the cinematic and literary renaissance of Germany from the 1960s onwards, Wenders together with Herzog , Fassbinder, Von Trotta, Kluge, Syberberg, Schloendorff, Reitz. W., together with Herzog, is the one who crossed national borders and achieved deserved success abroad. The plot of the film is based on the presence of guardian angels who watch over the people who live in Berlin and who talk to each other about what happens to their protégés, exchanging opinions and advice. The most sensitive of angels, Damiel (Bruno Ganz), suffers when he sees people's problems and takes care of a trapeze artist, Marion. Her assiduous closeness to the woman arouses in Damiel the desire to go beyond the listening phase and participate in earthly life himself, which will happen with a sort of renunciation of his spiritual status. In addition to the excellent performance of Bruno Ganz, the film also features P.Falk (for once outside the role of Inspector Colombo on television). It is considered Wenders' best film, but in my opinion it is not as homogeneous and flowing as it should be, I prefer the W. of Paris, Texas and the documentary on the Cuban musicians who survived the revolution which swept away all the venues where they performed ( Buena Vista Social Club). I'm writing this because I've seen the film several times and confirmed what doesn't work overall, the first viewing for me dates back to 1988 in a cinema in Sassari, I was in the company of my girlfriend at the time and halfway through the first half I fell fast asleep , awakening in the interval between times.
