Rate the Film: 2004’s Garfield the Movie

Where would you rate Garfield The Movie? Feel free to express your thought and opinions in the comments. For me: ⭐️1/2. Was a big Garfield fan then and despite seeing this left feeling underwhelmed I did have a soft spot for it because it was in a way Garfield. However rewatching it again not much of a Garfield fan anymore, this film is not good. I still hold some measly soft spot for it for nostalgia, but it’s just not good. While Bill Murray isn’t quite as bad playing Garfield, the writing, humor, and even CG body falls flat. On top of that the other characters like Jon, Odie, Liz, and Nermal aren’t like their comic book counter parts both in look and personality and it mostly feels phoned in. As for story and villain it’s pretty poor with an underwhelming climax. With a new animated Garfield film coming out in 2024 I’m sure it will do better than it’s 2004 film of which Bill Murray highly regretted doing.
