Mikhail Samarsky Životopis
Mikhail Samarsky was a highly respected Russian poet, writer, and translator who made significant contributions to the country's cultural landscape throughout the twentieth century. Though relatively unknown outside of Russia, Samarsky was highly regarded within his country and was awarded numerous prizes and accolades for his contributions to literature. Born in 1914 in Moscow, Samarsky began writing poetry and prose at a young age. He attended the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages, where he studied English, German, and French literature in addition to his native Russian literature. After graduating in 1937, Samarsky worked as a translator and editor for several prominent Soviet literary publications. Throughout his career, Samarsky wrote numerous books of poetry and prose, including his highly acclaimed collection, "First Runs," which was published in 1958. In addition to his own writing, Samarsky was also a highly regarded translator, having translated the works of many prominent English, German, and French writers into Russian. Despite his significant contributions to Russian literature and translation, Samarsky remained relatively unknown outside of his home country. However, within Russia, he was highly respected and regarded as a literary giant, with many of his poems and translations still studied and celebrated today. Samarsky passed away in Moscow in 1990, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of Russia's most important literary figures of the twentieth century.
