The best of the Silent Hill games are better than the best of the Resident Evil games.  That being said, I'd give Resident Evil games the overall win.  Because they are consistently good.

Depends on what you are talking about and how you categorize both franchises. Overall though, let's give it to the underdog in team silent as Silent Hill still remains to be my go to in general.

Okay good one I personally prefer resident evil it was the first of the 2 I played. I enjoy the stories in the series and the characters are interesting. Now since we are on that topic. Which of the 2, would you rather wake up in. I still go resident evil, either way we're screwed lol

Personally I have to go with Resident Evil. Mostly due to the fact that I played the series first, have more nostalgia for it and it has gotten the better end of the stick as it pertains to the quality of their individual series.

I do however have fond memories of Silent Hill 2. It was my favorite of the series, but then again the first three games are all good. The series just kind of went down hill hard after that. The Room wasn’t bad persay, but it didn’t feel as much like SH as the first three.

Everything after that was just pale imitations of the roots of the series and that was due to the original SH development team being disbanded by Konami.
