I feel like I have lived the same heartbreak twice, just with different people.

In my past marriage, I went through the pain of feeling like my partner wanted distance, space, and eventually someone else. I was not perfect, and therapy helped me see the ways I needed to grow, but that experience left me with a deep fear of giving everything to someone and still not being chosen.

Then I found someone I thought was different. Someone I could be myself around. Someone I wanted to marry, build a family with, and come home to. Before deployment, we were planning rings, kids, a home, and a future. I left believing I had something safe waiting for me.

During deployment, everything slowly changed. She started finding herself, losing weight, dressing differently, making new friends, going out, and building a new life. I tried to support it. I wanted to be proud of her. I did not want to control her or hold her back. But from far away, I started feeling like I was being pushed out of the life she was creating.

I kept asking for communication, honesty, boundaries, and to still feel like I mattered. Instead, I was told I was insecure, controlling, manipulative, and toxic. I started questioning myself. I tried to be patient. I tried to understand her trauma. I tried to give grace. I tried to forgive. I tried to keep choosing her even when I felt like she had already stopped choosing me.

Then I found out there really was something going on with the exact person I had been worried about. The same person I was told not to worry about. The same situation I was told was just my insecurity. And even after that came out, she still blamed me and said she did nothing wrong.

That broke something in me.

What hurts the most is not just the betrayal. It is being made to feel crazy for seeing it coming. It is loving someone enough to offer forgiveness, safety, support, and understanding, only to still be left behind. It is trying so hard to be a good partner and still ending up as the villain in someone else’s story.

I do not hate either of them. I hate that I keep loving people more than they seem willing to love me back. I hate that I keep trying to be safe for people who do not know how to stay. I hate that I can give loyalty, patience, forgiveness, and everything I have, and still not get the happy ending.

All I ever wanted was to come home to someone who loved me, appreciated me, chose me, and wanted to build a life with me.

Instead, I am learning how to survive losing the future I thought I finally had.

Currently working on a pre time-skip Franky cosplay for anime NYC this year. The wig was just finished by the wig maker I commissioned. I have his shirt and sunglasses already so I will need to make his cyborg nose, big forearms, buy a chain, buy shorts, and figure out of I want to do regular or fem Franjy for the other part of the top. I will be wearing thousand sunny crocs that I bought specifically for it b/c it fits and I'm not going bare foot lol.
