I used to watch anime like it held the secrets to life—shows like Steins;Gate 0 made me feel understood in a way real people couldn’t. Every plot twist felt personal, like the universe was conspiring to validate my weird inner world. Gurren Lagann made me want to dig through every layer of my own self-doubt, just to find something worth screaming about.

But something changed. I didn’t fall out of love with anime—I just started needing different things. I stopped wanting comfort in abstraction. I wanted reality. Or maybe I just stopped needing to project so hard. Now, when I rewatch those shows, I still feel that flicker of connection… but I don’t stay. I’ve moved on.

Not out of snobbery. Just… growth.

Anyone else feel like certain shows used to hold your whole heart, and now they’re just a warm echo?
