Any unusual sci-fi book?

I'm looking for something new, even if they are short stories, I love plot twists and am looking for something like "a statue for father" from Asimov, so I'm open for suggestions!

Isaac Asimov was a much better writer than Frank Herbert. Not so much in terms of influence, I just find Foundation much more engaging than Dune.
