Describe a "perfect" crime

I had a neighbor back in the early 2010s who had robbed his own father's bank. 
He got caught in west Virginia after stealing multiple cars to drive across country and picked up a bunch of sex workers and drugs along the way. 
He did like over 30 years for it. 
He used to do bead work while I crocheted and tell me stories about prison.

For years people speculated why did the golden state killer stop suddenly there were no more attacks neither rapes or murders after like 60 sum attacks over many years he just stopped before he was caught it was thought he was arrested or killed or struck down by god above for its monstrosity but it wasnt it was captured finally 30 plus years after the last attack it still lived in the same area as the attacks right under everybody's noses it could of kept attacking people right up until they arrested it  in 2018 and they would not of caught it any sooner most likely so why did the monster stop because of its last victim she was alone not a couple a beautiful and innocent teenage girl what about her was different if I had to guess it finally saw itself for what it was and it felt shame and it was afraid so it caged the beast itself and prayed its sins would never come back to haunt it but they did to any one who decides to go and try to interview that thing in the real cage if you want to get a reaction out of it ask it  about that last innocent girl it took from this world and make sure you are watching its reaction because it watched all its victims and it  acted out its sick fantasies on them but some thing went wrong and that girl gave her life but she some how stopped the golden state killer the monster she is the hero of the story how many more victims might there have been if not for whatever she said or did to unmask the monster and shine the spotlight on it for itself you can say this is just speculation too yes but in retrospect knowing that it was alive uninjured not in prison it was a beautiful innocent young girl that stopped the boogy man and she should be recognized for that and maybe poking at the beast in its cage will reveal her heroic actions that made a monster feel shame and fear enough to never attack another person the way it had relentlessly for years maybe im wrong but I dont think I am
