Rare, water soluable uranium ore. This time my specimen is incredibly small, so had to take a macro, probably the rarest mineral currently in my collection. It's from Recsk, Hungary

What's your favourite rock and why?
Also, what did the emrald say to the graphite? You rock! I've had a weird obsession with Obsidian since I saw that one guys on YouTube make spears and arrowheads out of Obsidian with... Obsidian. Honorary mention to Amber, it's not a rock but it's so effing cool.

Why did the tectonic plates break up?
It wasn’t their fault, there was just too much friction between them. I saw it. I had to share it, so here it is. Sue me. (edited)

Fossilized Wood
Fossilized wood that my grandfather gave me a few months ago. It's been sitting on my dresser since October so it's dusty af. My grandfather found it in either a creek bed or old river bed decades ago. I'll have to ask him again I can't remember which.

Gift from the Copper mine: Azurite
The picture can't giving back it's starry shine, mined in Morocco and it's common. The good quality ones and the geodes are rare and usually small, the tabled crystal form is the most prized. A piece of the Starry Sky, crafted by Mother Earth.

Rare gems: Torbernite
It is from my collection, and it kept all the time in that plastic container due the alpha radiation. It's used worldwide as dense uranium, pressed into yellowish "cakes". Mined in 2021, France. It can be found within other copper ores.

Calcite var. Hungary- Pilisjászfalu, collected by Zoltán Urbán in 2019, bought it, and added to my collection in the same year. It begun to dissolve back, that's why it's dull surface, Mt. Pilis is famous here from it's karst cave system, it's stalactites mainly from this calcite.

Quartz-Pyrite-Galena on matrix
Something really common, but really beautiful. It's the most frequently mined ore (galena) in the Carpathians along with the iron, copper and aluminum ores. This specimen is probably from Romania or Slovakia (I haven't got a label, but it's price said that). Not my rarest, but one of the best... read more

Rare gems: Garnet (it's not that rare at all, but still precious)
This one is Spessartine Garnet with Quartz and some metamorph crystals from China. The Garnets are widely used since the Bronze age as abrasives and jewelry and it's color varies from the burgundy and tea color to green and even blue (which is very rare).

Actually an abundant rock forming stone, coming along with marble. It's color depends on the iron content. Sometimes the well formed crystals used as gemstones, which is very rare. This one mined in Italy.

Labradorite labradorising. The Labradorite is a calcium-enriched feldspar which can display an iridescent effect. Vivianite, the Corpse Crystal
It's an Iron-Phosphate, which origin can be both igneous and as it's name says in the proper conditions growing from the iron content of a dead body in phosphorus-rich environments. It's color is originally dark bottle green or dark blue, and it's very fragile 1,5-2 it's hardness on the Mohs- scale.

The fake metallic "twin" of the Carbon
It's the famous Silicon (Si) in it's metallic form. You can't find this form in the nature, people synthetising it from quartz sand usually. The most abundant metal on Earth, and the theoretical building block of the non-carbon based life on other planets somewhere in the Universe.
