Very little activity, strange

1/2 Either USGS doesn’t have access to good regional data, or the region doesn't have good seismographic coverage, or it really is an unusual event/setting because there are no small magnitude aftersocks detected, and I expected to see a swarm of them.

Vivianite, the Corpse Crystal

It's an Iron-Phosphate, which origin can be both igneous and as it's name says in the proper conditions growing from the iron content of a dead body in phosphorus-rich environments. It's color is originally dark bottle green or dark blue, and it's very fragile 1,5-2 it's hardness on the Mohs- scale.

Probably the most popular crystal: Selenite/Gypsum

CaSO⁴2H²O, this mineral have 4 varieties like the Selenite, Satin spar, Desert rose and the Gypsum flower (I have all varieties in my collection). It's very soft even the fingernail can scratch it (2 on the Mohs scale). The Satin Spar variant is often used as cabochons, and esotheric tools, ornaments and carvings. Some of the biggest crystal ever found are also Selenite (Naica Mine, Cave of the Crystals, 12metres long and weighing 55 tons, there is an online documentary about the cave, it's really interesting!)

Gift from the Copper mine: Chrysocolla

Botryodial (typical) form with some Malachite. Mined in Katanga, Congo. It's name reflecting it's use, which is soldering gold. It's a secondary origin copper ore, and used also as a semi precious stone.

Rare gems: Garnet (it's not that rare at all, but still precious)

This one is Spessartine Garnet with Quartz and some metamorph crystals from China. The Garnets are widely used since the Bronze age as abrasives and jewelry and it's color varies from the burgundy and tea color to green and even blue (which is very rare).

The fake metallic "twin" of the Carbon

It's the famous Silicon (Si) in it's metallic form. You can't find this form in the nature, people synthetising it from quartz sand usually. The most abundant metal on Earth, and the theoretical building block of the non-carbon based life on other planets somewhere in the Universe.

Rare gems: Epidote

Actually an abundant rock forming stone, coming along with marble. It's color depends on the iron content. Sometimes the well formed crystals used as gemstones, which is very rare. This one mined in Italy.

Quartz-Pyrite-Galena on matrix

Something really common, but really beautiful. It's the most frequently mined ore (galena) in the Carpathians along with the iron, copper and aluminum ores. This specimen is probably from Romania or Slovakia (I haven't got a label, but it's price said that). Not my rarest, but one of the best specimen in my collection.

Rare gems, polished edition (and it's not rare either)

Labradorite labradorising. The Labradorite is a calcium-enriched feldspar which can display an iridescent effect. This one is mined in China, but can be found in Canada (Where it's found for the first time and got it's name from), Madagascar, US, Australia and Slovakia. It's iridescence can come in various colors, some of them are rare, like the peacock blue, the pink or the purple. Very popular stone amongst the collectors and jewellers too. Also a rare occasion of keeping cabochons in my collection.

Something plain...

SiO², Quartz. Came just now 😄...why it's interesting? Because it having a tiny blob of water inside, and also in the overall structure a faint phantom are visible (but my picture is bad and not giving back the true look).

Gift from the Copper mine: Azurite

The picture can't giving back it's starry shine, mined in Morocco and it's common. The good quality ones and the geodes are rare and usually small, the tabled crystal form is the most prized. A piece of the Starry Sky, crafted by Mother Earth.

Rare gems: Torbernite

It is from my collection, and it kept all the time in that plastic container due the alpha radiation. It's used worldwide as dense uranium, pressed into yellowish "cakes". Mined in 2021, France. It can be found within other copper ores.

Collection

Calcite var. Hungary- Pilisjászfalu, collected by Zoltán Urbán in 2019, bought it, and added to my collection in the same year. It begun to dissolve back, that's why it's dull surface, Mt. Pilis is famous here from it's karst cave system, it's stalactites mainly from this calcite.
