On This Day in History - June 9, 1941
June 9, 1941 #OTD The funeral of ex-Kaiser Wilhelm II was held in Doorn. Although AH had wanted a state funeral in Berlin with himself in a prominent role, Wilhelm's family insisted on respecting instructions he'd given in 1933 that he was to be buried in Doorn if Germany was not a monarchy at the time of his death. However, a delegation of German officials led by Arthur Seyss-Inquart was allowed to attend as well as a Wehrmacht guard of honour, and Wilhelm's wishes that German regalia not to be displayed at his funeral were ignored. Pictured: Funeral of Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1941. Visible in this photo are Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, Generals Curt Haase and August von Mackensen, and Arthur Seyss-Inquart.

For my own peace! ☘️
There are days when I would look around and find myself silently asking where everyone went. How things turned out the way they are now, and if I made some bad decisions I can no longer correct. Those thoughts come to mind from time to time, usually when loneliness catches up on me, but I... read more

Milky Way Over Easter Island 🗿✨️
Why were the statues on Easter Island built? No one is sure. What is sure is that over 900 large stone statues called moais exist there. The Rapa Nui (Easter Island) moais stand, on average, over twice as tall as a person and have over 200 times as much mass. It is thought that the unusual statues... read more
