On This Day in History - May 13, 1943
May 13, 1943 #OTD World War II: Tunisian Campaign, Ends. The remaining Axis troops surrendered in Tunisia. For the first time in the war, the British claimed more German prisoners than the number of British captives in Germany. Over 250,000 German and Italian troops were taken as prisoners of war, including most of the Afrika Korps. Pictured: German and Italian prisoners of war following the fall of Tunis, 12 May 1943.
