India At Paris - I
As Indian athletes strike gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, I would like to share some great phases of Indian history. The first is a journey to the places in Paris associated with Indian Revolutionaries based here in the 1910s. 46 Rue Blanche: House of veteran Indian freedom fighter Sirdarsinhji Ravaji Rana, which also hosted the Indian Association, a group of Indian revolutionaries including Madam Bhikaji Cama, who is famously known to hoist the National Flag having "Vande Mataram" written on it. Yes, there is a road and street on her name too if a regular Delhiite could recall. 25 Rue De Ponthieu, Madam Bhikaji Cama's residence where she stayed in Paris. #paris #india #france #french

Christmas Tree Aurora 🎄✨️
It was December and the sky lit up like a Christmas tree. Shimmering, the vivid green, blue, and purple auroral colors that formed the tree-like apparition were caused by high atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen reacting to a burst of incoming electrons. Collisions caused the orbital electrons of atoms... read more

It's crazy to think that when this 1863 Prussian coin was minted back in Berlin that the American Civil War was still raging and Queen Victoria was on the British throne. The Death of the Pharaoh's Firstborn Son.
This painting by Lawrence Tadema is honestly an amazing piece, it depicts the aftermath of the plagues visited upon Egypt during the Book of Exodus. The 9/11 story of Edna Cintron aka “The Waving Woman”
I’ve had a fascination with 9/11 for as long as I can remember and have done countless hours of research on it. Nothing haunts me more than the story of Edna Cintron though. Edna was was a 46 year old woman who worked on the 93rd floor of WTC Tower 1 on 9/11. She is the only known identified... read more

It was a night of 100,000 meteors. The Great Meteor Storm of 1833 was perhaps the most impressive meteor event in recent history. The first usage of the Arabic numerals in Europe!
In this manuscript from 1202 you can see the very first time the Arabic numerals were used in Europe, in a work by Fibonacci. A century later, they had almost completely replaced the roman ones, and 800 years later we still use them every day! #culture #numbers #history #classics #knowledge (edited)
