I love Ableton but the piano roll is abysmal. Actually, any piano roll besides FL Studio's is abysmal to me.

I think it’s sounding catchy! Just started this one

My late wife and I were recording this ten years ago. We spent all day doing the vocals while kitters attacked her feet. All the music was me, and for the backups there were so many, i wrote them out so we wouldn't screw them up. Each part i would play on the acoustic guitar until she had it and then she sang the part, then the next and the next... now that's ten years ago and I'm 200 light years from home.

New production

Looks like i finally finished this track!
It took longer than I expected, but I can't deny it's awesome. There's quite a story behind it as well. But my girl (I'm widowed, not poly) wanted to do a pop song and she wrote these lyrics for me (on my birthday) and I was genuinely touched when she showed them to me. And we spent 10 hours on my birthday recording it! It's hard to believe that we both forgot this song existed. Entirely! I forgot it and I know that she probably wouldn't have even remembered recording it! Even though it was at her house and she wrote it!
But at least she named it! Secrets! Maybe someday I'll share the story behind it. I remember she asked me why I was recording the guitar solo like I did. I was playing it really hard! I used a really thick pic and was digging the strings just yanking them when I played that solo. I was trying to get a different kind of sound out of the thing. And it did actually sound very distinct and different. If you listen to the main Solo in the middle you can tell that I'm really plucking those strings with some Force!

Finally.

When I miss my late wife, I can pull one of our Master tapes out of one of the songs that we didn't finish because there's a lot of them. And then add tracks to them and produce them and mix them. For maybe a whole day her voice fills the house, it's almost like she's here. At first I couldn't bear the thought, but desperation takes over and I start to work on them. Cat looks confused. I look confused. Thinking to myself, she should really record this take over again. My brain says yeah dude that's not going to happen you know? I say back to my brain, yeah I know. But you know she's a true Pro, so maybe she'll figure out a way. Brain says have another drink bro. Don't Mind If I Do! So yeah the crazy thing is oh... pretty sure that's me. But, how many people make it through this sane?

Am i the last to do this? I use real instruments and try and make the production sound a little more modern than typical real instrument Productions. I play a lot of different instruments, write, produce and engineer... I just love the randomness and the fresh sound of actual things making noise in the air! This one's really compressed because of the size but I think the sound is worth it.

New mix of this song my late wife and i covered on valentines day 2015. Kinda tough to produce pop with one guitar, two drums and two cymbals... but that voice!
