Oakland Community

These woods are a sanctuary to preserve animals and plants. They are maintained in their natural condition so that future generations can see what the Illinois landscape looked like in the past. Old growth trees found here are white oak, black oak, and shagbark hickory.

The Woods are also next to the Walnut Point State Park, where a beautiful human made lake is. 📸 Upper Embarras Woods Nature Preserve, Oakland, IL.

The city has some AMAZING murals, walking around seeing them in person is an amazing experience. I love the art in both Sacramento and Oakland 🫶🏼
