Can having a dog like personality, easy to please with food or a simple gesture like a hug / hair stroke.  Be counter productive in a relationship?

I ask a female friend once what she thought of a male dog like behavior similar to example provided above.

She said "if i wanted a dog, ill get a dog. Not a man"

Seems alot of people misinterpet this, though it seems.

Its an example of your personality that related or similar to an animal, not an actual animal to be treated like. (Not really sure why people leap to that conclusion)
