does anyone have any good advice to move on from an ex partner.

for reference. i have no other friends. we did everything together. we spoke everyday and met up several times a week. im left alone and all i want to do is lay in bed all day. i feel sick and can barely eat or do anything. he abandoned me just under a month ago. he was the reason for everything. he gave me purpose and life a meaning. we wore wedding bands because he promised he’d marry me when i got better. but my eupd took advantage and ultimately was the cause of him leaving me. i was trying to get better and get the help i needed by visiting the gp and applying myself for talking therapies.

why does it feel like everyone here is just looking to have fun? it seems like no one wants anything serious? hmmm i really hope i’m wrong about that😌

Loyalty, honesty and transparency is bare minimum, I don't see the point being in relationship if it isn't 💝

Don’t lie to yourself about preferring to be single. Of course there are exceptions, but we are all mostly trying to seek meaningful connections and human beings are gregarious by nature. It’s just exhausting when we keep trying and conversations with potential friends or mates seem to get nowhere, right? 😮‍💨 

Remember this cliché saying! First impressions DO matter! And don’t forget that the initial “interview” with someone goes both ways. 😉 

If a conversation with someone seems to be stalled, remember that you can always “string” the conversation by applying your 5 W’s to different statements. For example:

Her: “Oh, last year I went on a skiing trip in Europe!”

You: Really, amazing! Did you go with family? (Who). Where did you go? Europe has great places to go skiing (Where). 

Don’t forget that people have time zone differences, work schedules, and hobbies/goals to fulfill outside of the app. Others have different communication preferences and communication styles. Not all stalled conversations are “lack of interest” or “rejection”. And yet other times you just need to be patient and engage enough to find that point that just “clicks”. 

What’s most important is for you to continue to present yourself in the best light, be respectful and honest. Nobody has time for these games where “if you don’t ask me, well then, I just won’t ask you!”.  At the end of the day, follow your heart and you will have done your best and nobody can discredit you for that.

I sometimes wonder how sad it is that some people remain in relationships not because they are truly loved or desired, but because they serve a purpose. Their value becomes tied to what they provide rather than who they are, and that can be one of the loneliest ways to be needed.

What's a non-negotiable for you in a relationship? Something that will make you automatically shut the relationship down, even if you find the person physically attractive or they check all your other boxes.

As I'm getting closer to my 30s, I've realized I'd rather have one meaningful connection than dozens of shallow conversations.

I appreciate people who are kind, emotionally mature, and genuinely curious about getting to know each other. If we can talk about both the little things and the deeper ones, I'd love to hear from you.

Quality over quantity.

They shared that their children are grown now, life has settled into a routine, and traveling together is one of the ways they keep things from feeling too repetitive.

I joked, “Then maybe you should travel every day.” We all laughed, and then they asked me framed with genuine curiosity as a younger person, whether long term relationships inevitably become boring over time.

I smiled and said, “That’s a big question.” His wife added that they were both researchers by profession and enjoyed hearing different perspectives, which set a thoughtful tone for the exchange.

I explained that novelty can absolutely make things feel more alive in the short term, largely because it engages the brain’s reward system and creates a sense of stimulation. However, psychology suggests that novelty alone doesn’t resolve deeper relational issues. When boredom becomes persistent, it is often less about routine itself and more about emotional distance, unresolved tension, unmet needs, or two people gradually evolving in different directions without fully noticing it.

From that perspective, the more important question isn’t simply, “What new experience can we try together?” but rather, “What is causing us to feel less connected in the first place?”

At the same time, when emotional and physical attraction have both been absent for a prolonged period, and neither person feels a genuine desire to reconnect, boredom is rarely the core issue. It tends instead to signal that the relationship has significantly weakened or, in some cases, already ended in emotional terms. In such situations, change depends less on adding novelty and more on whether both individuals still feel enough connection, commitment, and willingness to rebuild what has been lost.

I’m only speaking from observation and reflection, not experience I’m still single and haven’t yet found love, so I probably can’t say much beyond that.😅😅

I just happened to meet a foreign couple at a tourist spot and we started talking. The conversation naturally turned toward their relationship.

I was just honest and was curious about that guy attitude and mindset and he just blocked me because I didn’t want to sexting with him. Oh my gosh, is it a real world I am living in? Prove me wrong

You often hear people say we've been through a lot together but what have they been through and have they worked on their past mistakes to not repeat them again as the famous saying goes there's a thin line between love and hate and we must not confuse obsession with love cause then we enter dangerous territory you hear me re-peat this phraze time and time again cause it's near and dear to my head and that Scripture from the Bible is "The Heart Is Wicked And Deceitful Above ALL things who knows it so don't let your own heart decieve you and don't let others decieve you with charm poke and prod a little see what their made of give relationships a year or more before you fully commit many don't know how damaging letting just anyone that makes you feel good into your life instantly is almost always destined for devistation.
