I found myself in a deathly hot area for the last few days and had to delay this precious first cup until I could relocate to a colder town. 
I very much enjoyed my first cup of tea. A gentle white blend with guava and ginger. I accidentally overstepped my second cup but it wasn't too bad. And the third cup was just perfect 🍵.

Here is an excerpt from Cha Dao which I am still reading! I am sad I don't have a teapot or or kettle or fancy tea utensils (for now) by the way of tea reminds us to revel in the simplicity of the moment and not allow out desire for aesthetics and luxury to get in the way of enjoying a good cup of tea 🤍. One of my favorite bits of tea mastery so far is from Lu Yu who wrote a lengthy treatise on the best way to enjoy tea, only to follow it up with a lengthy list of exceptions for when it is fair to do away with all the pomp and frills. 
"[...] suddenly coming across a clear stream or fast-running brook, or if there are only five or fewer guests or if one is hiking up a mountain side, or if one simply wants to carry all the implements in a fruit basket and does not have the space for all of them." (Towler S., 2010:35)

First cup of tea for 2026!

Here's an excerpt from Chapter 2 of Cha Dao. I haven't had nearly as much time to read as I thought I would but I am enjoying taking in one epiphany at a time. It is okay to go slow.

Yesterday I read chapter 2 and thought about how hard I am trying to escape from life. Even tea is an escape for me. I take a moment to drink in the beauty of a strongly or softly flavored brew. I want to take care to treasure not just the good. When I drink tea, I want to remember not to discard the present. I want to treasure the agonizing present. I am not well, and have not been well for some time. But in drinking tea I would like to acknowledge the boiling, the plucking, the shearing, grinding, rolling, burning, uncomfortable present.

I had a very long 2 days. Tea got me through them! Would have dropped of exhaustion on Monday without a good few mugs of tea to keep me going. 
The act of mindfulness does not have to be slow. I chugged down that golden liquid like a sailor while replying to messages in my other hand. In that moment, I tasted the earth and thanked it for lending me its strength. 🍵

I imagine tea caffeine like a SIMS boost card 😂. I don't believe in caffeine, but when you need the drugs, you need the drugs.

Cold or hot, tea remains good for health. And my personal fave is the combo of milk and tea. 🍵🥛

I usually have to observe the whole show and not say a word about it keeping it hush, honestly it is frustrating having to hold in my emotions to get flare ups at times. It’s a real show let me tell you. Especially dealing with family drama everyday, hearing about: oh, there is a lot of stress in myself but my mom can’t hold in any emotions whatsoever because my step family is first over my mom and I. Like literally whenever they bring in the kids over they say for my step dad to take care of the kids. But in actuality, my mom is the one doing all the work. He sometimes does it, but that’s not the point, my mom has an aneurysm in her spleenic artery. She shouldn’t be carrying no baby in the first place. And then they want to take in pictures with “their family” they just see us as nothing but a ghost. Why are we even here? I’m this close to talking to my biological dad about the whole thing.

I often have this experience when I drink a good cup of tea. Like the tea is whispering words to me and communicating something special. A tea blend is like a personality. And it's words are advice and comfort. I strain my ears to hear and the tea whispers soft words about the future, the present, and past.
