How do YOU show someone you like them and want to be closer to them?

What would you like to do to show interest in someone but are sometimes too scared to pull off?

To be honest, I just throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks. I mention a bunch of things and see if any of them pique their interest. Then when they are talking about what they like I listen, and show genuine interest in it.
