I became so depressed that I stopped playing the guitar completely. My last time I played a song was years ago, now I want to try and play again. Any tips you guys can give to help or motivate me to get back to playing again?

Kinda depends on what stopped you in the first place, but I’d say that practicing mindfulness is a really important step when it comes to getting back into any sort of activity you used to enjoy. I was never really a musician, but I did used to draw and paint a lot before my depression hit. After some time, I started to learn that the only way I was ever gonna get that passion back was to channel the ugliness I felt and turn it into something I could control, while still accepting it’s faults and embracing it’s mistakes. It’s not always gonna turn out how you want or how you expect, but art is art and the fact that you can create it is a feat all by itself. Don’t be too hard on yourself, especially at first. It’s not always gonna be like riding a bike, as people often say, use it or lose it. You may have to relearn some things, but that’s okay. Try to think of it as getting to fall for the love of your life all over again. Very few people get to do such a thing, so relish in the opportunity to experience that ebb and flow as if it were the first time 🥰 It sounds scary and intimidating, but I promise you’ll get a handle on it in no time.

My best advice for playing instrument again, find decent outside quiet spot with your guitar and play whatever come to you. Listen to birds sing match their rythme maybe you need align yourself to world music that flow everywhere. ( do apologize for grammar)

Maybe pick it up and play the first song you were ever taught, then think about all of the good memories you have about it.
