Ann Rutherford was a Canadian-American actress who rose to fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood. She was born on November 2, 1917, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and spent her early years in the city before moving to California with her family in the early 1920s. Rutherford began her acting career as a contract player for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in the 1930s and became a popular supporting actress in various films. While Rutherford appeared in dozens of films throughout her career, she is perhaps best known for her role as Carreen in the epic Civil War drama "Gone with the Wind" (1939). Her performance in the film was small, but it left a lasting impression on audiences and cemented her place in Hollywood history. After "Gone with the Wind," Rutherford continued to work steadily in films throughout the 1940s, often appearing in comedies and musicals. In addition to her film work, Rutherford had a successful career on television, appearing in numerous series such as "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" and "Perry Mason." She also made occasional appearances in films throughout the 1950s and 1960s before retiring from acting in the early 1970s. Rutherford was married twice and had one child before passing away on June 11, 2012, at the age of 94.
