Ivan Owen is a British artist, designer, and inventor best known for his 3D printing designs and prosthetic creations. Born in the United Kingdom, Ivan has gained international recognition for his innovative designs that have changed the lives of many people around the world. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Huffington Post, The Guardian, and Wired Magazine.
Ivan Owen first gained attention in 2011 for a collaborative project with Richard Van As, a woodworker from South Africa. Together, they created a 3D prosthetic hand for a young boy in South Africa who was born without fingers. This success spurred Owen to continue his work in 3D printing and prosthetics. In 2013, he teamed up with fellow designer, Jon Schull to create e-NABLE, a global network of volunteers who create and donate 3D printed prosthetic hands to people in need, free of charge.
Ivan Owen’s dedication to his craft has earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2014, he was named one of the Top 10 Most Creative People of 2014 by Fast Company. He was also a recipient of the Social Impact Award for Technology from the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards.
