Carl Brisson Bio

Carl Brisson was a Danish singer and actor who made a name for himself in Hollywood during the Golden Age of film. He was born on December 24th, 1893, in Copenhagen, Denmark, and began his career in entertainment as a performer in vaudeville shows. He soon moved to Paris where his talents as a singer and performer came to the attention of British producer C.B. Cochran. Cochran invited Brisson to London, where he starred in several successful musical stage productions including "The Merry Garden" and "Ma Belle Marguerite." Brisson made his film debut in 1928 when he starred in the silent film "The Ring." He went on to star in a number of films throughout the 1930s, including "Sally in Our Alley" (1931) and "The Invisible Man" (1933). Despite his talent on screen and on stage, Brisson's film career began to wane in the early 1940s, and he returned to the stage in London, where he continued to perform in musicals until his retirement in the 1950s. In addition to his work as an entertainer, Brisson served in the British Army during World War I, and later became a naturalized British citizen. He was married twice, and had one son, but little else is known about his personal life. Brisson passed away on September 25th, 1958, at the age of 64, but his contributions to the world of entertainment live on in the films and recordings he left behind. Today, he is remembered as one of Denmark's most talented performers, and as a beloved member of Hollywood's Golden Age.
