Roger Staubach is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys from 1969 to 1979. Born on February 5, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Staubach grew up in a Catholic family and attended a Jesuit high school. He then went on to play college football for the United States Naval Academy, where he became a standout player with several impressive statistics and honors. After graduating from the Naval Academy in 1965, Staubach served in the U.S. Navy for four years, including a year of service in Vietnam. Upon returning to the United States, he was drafted by both the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs of the rival American Football League (AFL). He ultimately chose to play for the Cowboys and debuted with the team in 1969. Staubach quickly became known for his athleticism, leadership skills, and ability to perform under pressure. He led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl appearances and two championships (Super Bowl VI and XII). He retired from football in 1979 with numerous accomplishments, including six Pro Bowl selections, two Super Bowl MVP awards, and induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. Outside of football, Staubach has pursued a successful business career, starting his own real estate company in 1977. Today, he is a highly respected figure in both sports and business, known for his integrity, leadership, and determination.
