Jim Mora is a former American football head coach and player. He was born on November 19, 1961, in Los Angeles, California. Mora is the son of Jim E. Mora, who was also an American football coach. He attended Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington, where he played football as a safety and linebacker.
Mora went on to play college football at the University of Washington. He played safety for the Huskies from 1980 to 1983, and was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection. After college, Mora played football for a short time in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos.
Mora began his coaching career at the University of California, Berkeley in 1984 as a graduate assistant. He then spent four years as an assistant coach at the University of Washington. Mora's first head coaching job was with the New Orleans Saints in 2004, where he led the team to three straight winning seasons and two playoff appearances.
Mora later served as head coach for the Seattle Seahawks and the UCLA Bruins. In his coaching career, he has been named the NFL Coach of the Year and the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Mora's coaching philosophy is centered around accountability, hard work, and positivity. He has also worked as a football analyst for ESPN and the NFL Network.
