He was best known for his role as Erik Hunter in the television series Laredo and as the romantic lead in the popular British series The Persuaders! which starred Roger Moore. Born on September 28, 1936 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Wolders began his acting career in Paris, France, where he worked as a model and studied at the Sorbonne University. He made his first big break in the United States with his role in Laredo, which aired from 1965 to 1967, and went on to achieve greater success with his role in The Persuaders! alongside Moore. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Wolders continued to appear in a variety of films, television shows and stage productions. He also worked as a film producer, and contributed to the creation of several popular films, including Beau Geste and The Great Bank Robbery. The death of Robert Wolders on July 12, 2018 at the age of 81 marked the end of an era in the entertainment industry.
