"I'm a bit of a clown, and I enjoy that because I think it's important to laugh, and I don't think we laugh enough in our lives."

Alan Young

Alan Young Bio

Alan Young was a talented actor and comedian hailing from the United Kingdom. Born in Northumberland in 1919, Young began performing on the radio in the 1940s before transitioning to television and film. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Wilbur Post in the popular 1960s sitcom Mr. Ed, in which he starred alongside a talking horse. Young's career spanned over seven decades, during which he appeared in numerous film and television productions. He played supporting roles in classic Hollywood movies such as The Time Machine, Tom Thumb, and Androcles and the Lion. He also lent his voice to characters in animated films and television shows, including Disney's The Rescuers and DuckTales. Despite his success in the entertainment industry, Young remained grounded and humble. He was known for his kind-hearted nature and love of animals, which he inherited from his father who was a veterinary surgeon. He often worked with animal welfare organizations and even used his Mr. Ed fame to promote humane treatment of animals. Young continued to work well into his 90s, with his last role being in the 2016 film Mickey Matson and the Pirate's Code. He passed away later that year in May at the age of 96. His contributions to the entertainment industry will always be remembered and his legacy as a beloved actor and comedian will live on.
